Doctors in Training posts barred from Tier 1

Doctors from outside of the European Union/European Economic Area who want training positions in the United Kingdom will be barred from entering the UK under Tier 1 as General Highly Skilled Migrants. The decision is expected to reduce the number of training applicants to a total of about 5000 for 2009. The government announced the change as part of an effort to open up more places for British-trained medical graduates.
