UK - A8 countries, Bulgarian and Romanian migrant statistics

Migration into the United Kingdom from the eight Eastern European countries that joined the European Union in 2004 (the so-called "A8" countries) is on the decline. Almost 11% fewer nationals from A8 countries entered Britain in the second quarter of this year, in comparison to the same quarter for 2006. The second quarter of 2007 saw a 21% reduction in Bulgarian and Romanian nationals being granted access to the UK labor market from the first quarter of 2007. This number includes those registered as self-employed and self-sufficient.
