Currently, US immigration has a cap of 65,000 H1-B visas issued per year with an additional 20,000 available to those with a Masters degree from US universities. The Masters degree cap was met on 25 October 2011.
US Citizenship and Immigration began accepting H-1B petitions on 1 April 2011. Once the cap is reached the visas will not become available again after this year's cap is met until 1 April 2012 for an earliest start date of October 2012.
