US Green Card Lottery - Electronic Filing Only
25 August 2003
Full details of the US Green Card Lottery DV 2005 have just been announced. The Lottery is designed to increase the diversity of immigrants to the US by only allowing entrants for the Lottery from "natives" of "under represented" Countries. Your Country of birth will normally be the deciding factor when considering which Country you will be a native of. If you are from a Country that has sent more than 50,000 immigrants to the US in the last five years then your Country will be excluded from the Lottery.
Key Facts:
- The most significant change this year is that there will be electronic filing only for the green card lottery. You will only be able to apply on the internet . This will reduce the cost to the US Department of State, make duplicate filing less likely and be more reliable than an application submitted in the mail.
- "Natives" of Russia can no longer enter the Green Card Lottery.
- You can submit your entry to the Green Card Lottery between the dates of 1 November 2003 and 30 December 2003.
- All applications for the Green Card Lottery will go to the Kentucky Consular Center. You will then be placed into one of six geographical regions and be assigned a number. The selection process will take place electronically with numbers being selected one at a time for the available visas under the DV2005 Lottery.
- If you are selected you will be notified by the Department of State between May 2004 and July 2004 and be given full details of how to apply for the immigrant visa.
If you register with us now your application will be submitted by an AILA immigration attorney at a third lower fee than normal. We will be charging at our usual rate from 1 November 2003 to 30 December 2003.
