On 15 June 2004, Work Permits (UK) announced that a limit had been placed on the number of Sector Based Scheme (SBS) permits that can be issued to a single nationality within a given sector. This limit was set at 20% of the overall quota. This quota has now been reached for Ukrainian nationals in the Food Manufacturing sector in SBS.

As of the 23 May 2005, no further applications should be submitted for Ukrainian nationals for employment in the Food Manufacturing sector. The full application and fee will be returned to the sender. Applications submitted before the 23 May 2005 will still be processed.

This suspension will have no impact on Ukrainian nationals applying under the Hospitality sector quota or on any other nationals applying under the Food Manufacturing sector.

An announcement on the future of SBS will be made in the near future. Please continue to visit workpermit.com for details.
