High numbers of Irish citizens are continuing to emigrate to other countries, especially Australia, according to official figures.

If you are a national of a country within the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland, you will not need a visa to travel. Citizens from other countries that do not require visas include the US, Canada, and Australia. However many countries are required to obtain a UK visitor visa prior to travel. Pakistani students wishing to study in the UK will face tough new tests after a pilot scheme found that as many as four in ten applicants should be rejected mostly due to poor English language skills.UK Home Office figures have revealed that thousands of Pakistani student visa applicants cannot speak English, despite claiming they have good English skills when applying for their student visas.

The UK Border Agency has announced that from 16 April 2012, all UK visa applications from China must be completed and paid for online. Once you have completed your online UK visa application, the online appointment system will ask you to book an appointment to attend the visa application centre. You will need to print and sign your completed form and take it with you to your local UK visa application centre to submit your application and provide your biometric information.

US Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced that, as of 13 April 2012, it has already received 20,600 H-1B cap-subject petitions. Additionally, they have received 9,700 H-1B visa petitions for foreigners with US advanced degrees.
International immigrants rights groups have called on labor ministers of 19 Asian and Middle Eastern countries to push for further protections for migrant workers. Specifically, they urged local officials from Asian and Middle Eastern countries to lobby against laws and policies that expose migrant workers to abuse and exploitation.
