In the aftermath of the New York terror attack of a couple months ago, in which eight people were killed a few blocks away from the World Trade Center, Grenada fears losing access to the US E2 visa scheme. It has been reported that Uzbeck national Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov drove into pedestrians that resulted in the deaths. Following the attack, Trump has once again turned his attention to visa entry into America.

Dublin senator, Neale Richmond, has urged Ireland’s government to relax the Irish work permit laws for non-EU nationals. Richmond, a senator for Fine Gael - a liberal-conservative and Christian democratic political party – wants to see the list of occupations for which foreign workers might be eligible, expanded.

A Home Office letter, written on behalf of UK Home Secretary Amber Rudd, is ‘advising’ EU citizens to ‘go home or go elsewhere’ because they have the ‘freedom to travel across the EU and can visit, live and in most cases work in any other EU member state.

American born British businessman, Bill Browder, an outspoken critic of Russian president Vladimir Putin, had his US B1 and B2 visit visa temporarily revoked with no explanation from the US government. Mr Browder claims that he was unable to enter the US after Russia added him to an international police wanted list. Fortunately, the US decided to reverse their decision.

United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has released new data showing that L1 visa petitions in the US grew for fiscal years 2015 and 2016. The L1 visa enables companies to transfer foreign employees, along with their families, from an overseas base to the United States for up to seven years for an L1A Manager and Executive.

Following the latest Tier 2 visa allocation meeting, the number of Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS) available for November, 2017 stands at 1,531 – now the lowest figure in 2017 - according to UK Visas and Immigration data. The department published its October report citing that its figures were correct as of 23 October, 2017.
