The British High Commission has announced that the UK Border Agency (UKBA) visa centre in Manila in the Philippines will process Tier 4 visa applications for Malaysian applicants. Previously, Tier 4 applications from Malaysians were processed in the High Commission's visa outsource centre in Jalan Ampang, Malaysia.

Under the new process, applications will continue to be collected in Jalan Ampang by the British Government's visa outsource centre run by VFS Global a global outsourcing company. They will then be sent to Manila in the Philippines for processing.

Deputy High Commissioner Ray Kyles said the decision to approve, or reject, a visa would now be in the hands of UKBA officials based at the Manila centre and no longer in Kuala Lumpur.

"We expect applications from Malaysian students to rise and as the peak season approaches, UKBA wants them to understand the requirements and process first," said Kyles. "Students should get active as soon as they obtain their results and not delay their applications, allowing at least 15 days for processing."

The busy period for UK Tier 4 student visa applications is normally from July to September. Therefore processing times are faster if you apply for your student visa outside these time periods.
