Image Scanning FAQ
How do I start scanning?
Use the software provided with your scanner, which usually is simple wizard, or use any image editing software which supports "Import TWAIN 32 Source" function. "TWAIN 32 Source" must be understood like process of image scanning. This function usually can be found in "File -> Import" menu of the image editing software if the computer is equipped with a scanner.
What is colour depth?
Colour depth is a measurement for number of colours used to represent the image. You can scan a colour image at 24-bit (true colour) or 8-bit (256 colour) mode. However, it is recommended to scan at 24-bit colour depth, unless there is a reason why it is not possible. If you scan a monochrome (black and white) image, then you have to set colour depth to 8-bit grayscale. Lower depth images than 8-bit colour or monochrome will not be accepted.
Resolution?
The usable part of image should be 2 by 2 inches large. You should scan image at 150dpi (dots per inch) resolution. So scanned image should be 300 by 300 pixels large at the end. If your photo is smaller than 2 by 2 inches, then you have to scan with higher resolution. However, we will check the resolution and will take care of it in case of any errors.
Which format is best for saving the image?
In this case only Joint Photographic Experts Group (widely known as JPG, JPEG, JPE) format is accepted. When saving file in this format you will see a dialog window, where you have to specify the level of compression. It is highly recommended to set it to equal or higher than 7, otherwise image gets crispy and blurry.
How to send the image?
You have to send the image as e-mail attachment. If you use an email client, like Outlook you can simply drag and drop the image file to the message. If you use webmail, then you have to use "Add Attachment" wizard, provided by your webmail.
How can I take part in lottery if I have no access to scanner?
