Temporary visas for parents
Temporary Contributory Parent Visa (Class UT, Subclass 173)
This is a relatively new visa, introduced on 1 July 2003. It is a temporary visa to allow parents living outside Australia to visit their children in Australia. It has no restriction on age, and there is no restriction on country of citizenship (as exists with some of the visas for young people). In addition, parents can work in Australia and take advantage of the national medical cover, Medicare. This is a great opportunity.
