French Langauge
La francophonie? Quoi?!
The official language of Quebec is French. The French spoken in Quebec is broadly the same as the French spoken elsewhere in the world, though there are some differences and a regional accent. If you have learnt French elsewhere, you are unlikely to have problems communicating in Quebec.
Quebec is very proud of its French heritage and makes a concerted effort to preserve it. In both public and private life, French is by far the dominant language. If you choose to live in Quebec, rather than another Canadian province, a decent knowledge of French will not only add weight to your immigration and job applications, but will also make it easier for you to socialise and feel at home in Quebec.
Although many people in Quebec speak fluent English, there is no guarantee. You can find lots of resources on the Internet to help you learn or brush up on your French.
