The official language of Quebec is French. The French spoken in Quebec is broadly the same as the French spoken elsewhere in the world, though there are some differences and a regional accent. If you have learnt French elsewhere, you are unlikely to have problems communicating in Quebec.

Quebec is very proud of its French heritage and makes a concerted effort to preserve it. In both public and private life, French is by far the dominant language.
