- SBS Work Permits Application Form
- Since 1 May 2004, nationals of the new EU Accession Countries are able to work freely in the UK under the worker registration scheme. If you are a UK employer looking for staff call the Latvian office on +371 67814121
Please note that the SBS currently only applies to nationals from Bulgaria and Romania. The programme was scheduled to be phased out by 31 December, 2006, but was retained for both nations upon their accession to the European Union on 01 January, 2007.
You will normally need to do the following to show that you cannot fill the jobs from the UK labour market:
- You will normally need to advertise the jobs for a minimum of four weeks in the six months prior to applying for the sector based work permit.
- You should advertise the vacancy through the Job Centre Plus network or the Northern Ireland equivalent. You should show a letter confirming that you have placed a vacancy with either of the above. Please note that placing a vacancy here is free!
- You should also advertise the vacancy with the European Employment Service (EURES) network.
Your work permit application is likely to be refused if you do not meet the above requirements. If you feel that the work permit should still be issued without meeting the usual advertising requirements you should explain in detail why your means of advertising the vacancy is better suited to finding suitable job applicants than that required by Work Permits UK.
